Broken Arrow Farm Updates: June 2026

April Showers Bring... May Showers?

With all of the rain, we are behind on planting for sure. Corn is almost all in the ground with the exception of two custom planting jobs. Conditions have been marginal to say the least... we will see what the plant stress yields in uniform emergence. Beans have been started, but we are by no means done.

Soon enough we will be balancing getting the last three head of cattle AI bred, planting, top dressing fertilizer on corn ground, mowing/baling hay and an anticipated early wheat harvest - which will lead to straw being baled and cover crops getting planted.  If it sounds chaotic... it is! We are still waiting on the contractor for the conservation projects to start, nothing much going on there.

As many have noticed, our prices did increase. I hate doing it, but the processing is getting more or less out of hand. Angus Certified Beef animal was $1.56/lb hanging weight and almost $1500, pork is almost $2.00/lb and our regular processing is $1.50/lb. All deposits can be paid on the website by your desired date! This helps streamline customer information, date and processor. All inventory online is current as well as the addition of the Certified Angus Beef prime animal.

We have changed the location of our monthly Port Clinton meet-ups! Still the second Saturday of each month from 11:00-11:30, but you will now find us at Hangin' With The Buoys, 210 W Main St, Lakeside Marblehead, OH 43440. This eliminates the conflict of interest of meat sales with Walmart. Please order online and choose local pick-up, I will confirm pick-up location. Please have exact cash, or you can pay online. Check the "Where to Buy" page for more information.

Check out our Memorial Day Bundles available online now through Father's Day! Open shops will start May 31 and be most Sundays from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. At this time we are only having maple syrup and honey as our only other items.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!
