Current Events - Our cover crops are all doing great thanks to this much-needed late-season rain! However, that is definitely putting a damper on the late-planted crops drying down for harvest. We have put a small dent in the bean harvest, planted our winter wheat, and started into corn! We are definitely anticipating a late fall but praying by Thanksgiving we can have it wrapped up - awfully lofty goal, but aiming high!
Calving wrapped up pretty well! We had an influx of heifers vs. bull calves, so based on how they grow and how last year's heifers perform come breeding season- will determine if they stay as breeding stock or get put on a special feed ration to help meet our demand. We have done this in years past and have had great success in the quality, so do not worry about that!
Dakota had his winter layoff come early, but having an extra hand around the farm has definitely been a blessing. He drives semis WAY better and more efficiently than I do, and our son loves having his daddy around more!
Contractors are still tying us up on our projects, but we are hopeful to have more fencing, the waterer installed completely in front of two pastures at my parents', and a solar well backup completed by year's end to meet deadlines!
Appointments - All beef are being waitlisted until the animals are at optimal weight. We have gone back to the generic deposit without dates to keep everyone in order more easily. Do not worry - if you have already done your beef or pork deposit, I have you in order!
Pork is currently sold out and being waitlisted until next year's dates are confirmed. Thank you all! We do have a small pork restock about to drop soon! As always, thank you all for your patience as we are awaiting harvest-ready carcass weights! Deposits can be still be paid on the website.
Inventory - Our pork inventory is pretty much as follows: some bacon, brats, shoulder roasts, chops, and sausage. Beef is down to trail, jerky, sticks, burgers (specialty and regular), and a handful of shaved steaks.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support!
